Atlanta, Ga., February 13, 2025: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is excited to announce the publication of the 2024 Year in Review. In 2024, Equinox expanded partnerships, including with Evergreen Indiana, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, and EveryLibrary, to collaborate on several innovative consulting projects. Equinox also partnered with library organizations to offer new opportunities for enhancing services, such as access to WorldCat’s Metadata API with OCLC, Unique Management Services’ MessageBee SMS, special pricing for Aspen Discovery, CORAL ERM and SubjectsPlus for the Connecticut Library Consortium, and authority control services through Backstage Library Works.

Equinox’s educational and outreach efforts supported libraries and communities across the United States. Equinox sponsored the first ever AspenCon in Golden, Colorado, and provided expertise for Aspen Discovery documentation and accessibility. The Equinox team presented on resource sharing and open source development at the 2024 American Library Association Annual Conference in San Diego, CA. At the 2024 Koha-US Annual Conference in Round Rock, Texas, Equinox’s presentation sparked discussion related to accessibility for Koha. Presentations for the Connecticut Library Association and the Connecticut Library Consortium focused on Aspen Discovery, Evergreen, Fulfillment, and CORAL ERM.

Open source software development work included two new releases of CORAL ERM (2024.04 and 2024.10) and, for Evergreen, new RESTful API endpoints, multi factor authentication, and a rewrite of Evergreen’s Record Buckets interface.

“The Equinox team extends our gratitude to our partners, libraries, and community members for your continued support and collaboration in 2024. Your feedback sets the course for Equinox’s open source contributions each year,” said Lisa Carlucci, Executive Director at Equinox. “We are proud to support libraries and open source communities with Equinox’s nonprofit programs, education, and outreach.”
