Atlanta, GA, February 25, 2025: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is excited to announce that Equinox will be presenting at Computers in Libraries 2025. Felicia Beaudry, Business Development Manager, will present, “Community Engagement, Service Innovation, and Transformation,” about the impact of the Equinox Open Source Grant on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. Computers in Libraries will run from March 25 through March 26, 2025. Full details about the upcoming conference can be found here: https://computersinlibraries.infotoday.com/2025/Default.aspx.

Launched in 2019, the Equinox Open Source grant provides technology services to libraries implementing Koha ILS, an open source integrated library system used worldwide. The grant is provided for an initial term of three years and can be renewed indefinitely as long as the recipient continues to qualify. For more information about the Equinox Open Source Grant please visit: https://www.equinoxoli.org/collaborate/#grant.

Five institutions have been awarded the grant since its inception: Biblioteca Nacional de Puerto Rico (PR), Spark Central (WA), the Vermont Jazz Center (VT), the Center for Khmer Studies (NY), and the Weeksville Heritage Center (NY). Beaudry’s presentation will discuss the impact of the grant, specifically how grantees were able to innovate their service models, launch related technology projects, expand collections, and start new community outreach programs, all fostering deeper connections with their patrons.

“The grant’s impact on these libraries extended well beyond the addition of Koha,” said Felicia Beaudry. “It empowered them to evolve and expand, sparking transformative community engagement and service innovation. They exemplify how effective technology can serve as a catalyst for continued growth.”
