Equinox Press Release logo indicating that this post is a press release.

Atlanta, Ga., March 4, 2025: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is pleased to welcome the Northampton Area Public Library to Evergreen ILS with the Pennsylvania Integrated Library System (PaILS/SPARK).

“The entire team from Equinox and PaILS made migration completely painless,” said Veronica Laroche, Library Director at Northampton Area Public Library. “Equinox took care of everything including data transfer, customized notices, and training documentation. Any library looking to migrate to a different ILS should definitely consider Evergreen through Equinox, and if you’re in Pennsylvania, you’re in great hands with PaILS.”

The first library in Northampton opened in 1965. Today the Northampton Area Public Library serves the boroughs of Northampton, Bath, and Chapmans, as well as the townships of Allen, East Allen, Lehigh, and Moore. By joining PaILS/SPARK, Northampton Area Public Library’s patrons gain access to a significantly larger collection through resource sharing with other member libraries. Equinox provided implementation and training services during the migration and will continue to provide hosting and technical support.

PaILS was founded in June 2011 as a non-profit organization to provide an open source integrated library system for Pennsylvania libraries. It oversees SPARK, the Evergreen ILS managed by PaILS on behalf of its member libraries across Pennsylvania. Equinox and PaILS have worked together to support SPARK since 2013.

“It is always a pleasure to help libraries in Pennsylvania take advantage of open source and the resources available through PaILS,” said Rogan Hamby, Data and Project Manager at Equinox. “Evergreen is a robust platform for consortia with a lot of wonderful features. We are excited to welcome Northampton Area Public Library as the newest member of PaILS.”

Equinox Press Release logo indicating that this post is a press release.

Atlanta, Ga., January 22, 2025: Equinox Open Library Initiative, a trusted leader in open source technology development and support for libraries, is pleased to announce development projects for Evergreen ILS and CORAL ERM completed in Q4 2024.

Evergreen

  • RESTful API Phase II Part 1

Evergreen’s APIs were brought into a modern framework with the development of new RESTful API endpoints and documentation which is now available for third-party developers. These endpoints include patron, bibliographic, and item data, in addition to patron engagement, circulation, and course reserves information.

The Alerts & Notes project reworks the front-end and middle layer elements of Evergreen’s item-level alerts, notes, and tags, giving catalogers a flexible and updated interface. This development included additional administrative access points and accessibility updates.

Both features are targeted for the 3.15 release of Evergreen and were made possible with the support of the Evergreen Community Development Initiative.

CORAL ERM

  • Community review & bugfixing for the CORAL Resources module

The CORAL Resources module rewrite is currently in testing by the CORAL community and Equinox has been collaborating to address minor bugfixes and improvements. The new interface is expected to make its debut in early 2025.

“The Evergreen RESTful API project is an important infrastructure modernization. We’re grateful to the Evergreen Community Development Initiative for recognizing the benefits that this project provides to Evergreen users and third-party services,” says Andrea Buntz Neiman, Project Manager for Software Development at Equinox. “We are also proud to lead the accessibility updates in CORAL’s Resources module.”
